Color Freshet Technique
by Ann Ree Colton and Jonathan Murro
Ann Ree Colton introduces her students to the world of inspiration during the first month of their spiritual instruction by suggesting that they make color freshets. Color freshets are healing and revealing, and they open new avenues of communion with the soul’s treasures. –Jonathan Murro
The color freshet is a form of meditation and mediation … without effort … because it is joy and releasing.
Color, the supreme gift of Nature, awakens in man a sense of appreciation and awe; for the palette of Nature reflects the handiwork of God.
The mentality and emotions of man – and his soul – respond to color. And they emanate color.
Niscience teaches a simple technique for self-revelation through color. This technique is called “The Color Freshet.”
The materials used are soft pastels and a drawing tablet. (Watercolors, casein, or oil paints may be used; however, Niscience recommends soft pastels for one’s first Color Freshets.)
Color Freshets are also called “Creative Imprints” or “Etheric Imprints.”
I. Dedication
Reverence is the key to the Niscience Color Freshet technique. Therefore, before one begins to create, he reverently speaks a Prayer of Dedication. For example:
Father, I dedicate my hands, my heart, and my mind. May my hands be blessed. And may my soul speak through my hands.
or
I am the product of an unceasing chain of action. Therefore, I have many talents yet to be discovered. May I assemble the golden promise of my true being. And may I glorify the medallion of my soul’s light.
II. Contemplation
The next step after Dedication is to choose a color and lightly tint the complete surface of the paper. The effect is then contemplated. (As one gains experience, tinting becomes optional.)
III. Creation
The final step is to use other colors to define and fill in what one visualizes on the paper.
The Color Freshet may be one of simplicity or of complexity. If the Freshet is one of simplicity, few colors will be used. If the Freshet is one of complexity, a number of colors will be chosen.
A Color Freshet may pertain to one or more of the following: faces, forms, animals, flowers, nature sciences, Biblical stories, geometrical patterns, variations of colors, or any of an infinity of creative ideas.
Color Freshets reveal one’s present state of spiritual evolvement. They reveal the symbols that are close to the soul. And they sometimes reveal past lives.
Color Freshets ease tensions … and help to bring peace to the emotions and thoughts. To express oneself creatively is one of the major joys of life.

Each Color Freshet should be signed and dated; and the title, if any, should be recorded.
A fixative spray may be used to preserve Color Freshets.

The Color Freshet is not for the purpose of making one an artist. Therefore, it should be remembered that a Color Freshet is not art for art’s sake, but it is a means through which one comes closer to his Guardian Angel and to the record of his soul. He should be careful not to become overzealous; and he should re- member that his Guardian Angel will help him to time his Color Freshet work.
Tension should be avoided, for tension nullifies the therapeutic effect of this dedicated practice. If there is any form of tension, distraction, or interference with immediate responsibilities, it is recommended that the Color Feshet practice be limited to twice a week, from 30 minutes to 1 hour.
The objectives of the Niscience creativity procedures are to remove obstructions that interfere with one’s lucid thoughts and to free his grace. As one continues to observe these creativity practices, certain talents from former lives may be revealed, for one begins to work directly with the soul and the treasures of the soul.
